Xiamen Convention & Exhibition Association was founded on April 19, 1999, boasting one of the most time-honored organizations of its kind ever established in a convention and exhibition city in China. This association, under the leadership of Xiamen Municipal Government and relevant departments, is a voluntary, non-profit and local organization as well as a legal entity, featuring affiliates from relevant social groups in convention and exhibition industry in Xiamen. The competent department of the industry is Xiamen Municipal Commerce Bureau.

The purpose of the Association is to render services to the enterprises, the government; and to boost the economic and social development of Xiamen, so to speak, to serve as a bridge.

The mission of the Association:
1. To collaborate with Xiamen Municipality to conduct research on convention and exhibition industry, and to take an active part in relevant policy-making;
2. To feedback to relevant authorities the appeals from the enterprises, to promote incentive policies by Xiamen Municipality, with a view to propelling the development of the industry, and to ameliorating the industrial chain;
3. To undertake the statistical work on the convention and exhibition industry at the entrust of Xiamen Municipality;
4. To coordinate and confirm new exhibition and convention events in the city; 5. To undertake evaluation of convention and exhibition events in Xiamen at the entrust of Xiamen Municipality;
6. To undertake the accreditation of enterprises involved in convention and exhibition design and construction;
7.To undertake to compile Annual Report on the Development of Convention and Exhibition industry in Xiamen;
8. To edit and issue Dynamic Report on Xiamen Convention and Exhibition Industry;
9. To undertake the development , bui lding, maintenance and operation of the official convention and exhibition website of Xiamen Municipality;
10. To undertake vocational training on convention and exhibition industry;
11. To undertake to organize subject research on convention and exhibition industry;
12. To undertake to organize convention and exhibition events hosted by Xiamen Municipality, with a view to boosting convention and exhibition industry in the city;
13. To provide guidance to the affiliates on hosting convention and exhibition events
14. To provide consultancy and to recommend collaborators in Xiamen for event organizers outside Xiamen whereby necessary;
15. To embark upon partnership and exchanges both at home and abroad;
16. To undertake other tasks as entrusted by Xiamen Municipality and affiliates of the Association.

At present, Xiamen convention and exhibition association features over 230 affiliates, including convent ion and exhibi t ion venue owners, exhibition institutions, convention organizers, design and building companies, ritual companies, translation companies, security companies, guesthouses, hotels, travel agencies, customs clearance organizations, logistics, passenger services, inkjet printing companies, photo studios, education training and theory research institutions, etc.
